Pet nutritionist consultation
This pet nutritionist consultation is a simple, preliminary consultation for concerned pet parents looking for answers to their dog’s health problem. The vast majority of canine health problems have poor gut health as their root cause. Gut dysbiosis, (an imbalance of gut bacteria), and leaky gut syndrome are invariably at the heart of most dog health conditions. A poor commercial diet is to blame in the vast majority of cases.
As a qualified canine nutritionist, the vast majority of my clients present with poor gut health because of poor nutrition. That poor nutrition in 99% of cases is the result of unhealthy commercial dog food.
This preliminary consultation then is a bit like an initial visit to the vet. Your dog has a gut problem. Sickness, bile, diarrhoea, loose stool and inability to gain weight. Or your dog is suffering from canine diabetes, cancer, kidney or liver disease and you want to know the best food to feed.
Vets have no training in nutrition. Today’s vets are trained to medicate and to sell commercial dog food. But you’ve been to the vet and despite prescribing drugs and so-called prescription dog food, your pet’s condition has not improved. That’s where a dog nutritionist can help. A canine nutritionist is trained to provide dog nutrition help. To make your dog better with healthy food rather than unhealthy medication.
I understand your concerns
As a parent to two dogs, I understand how concerning it can be when your dog shows signs of ill health. As a canine nutritionist, I know how to interpret these signs, which more often that not can be rectified with a simple dietary adjustment, supplement or natural treatment.
All too often today, pet parents rush their dog to the vets at the slightest sign of a problem. This is expensive for you and frequently stressful for both you and your dog. Most of the time, it’s also completely unnecessary!
To add insult to injury, a vet will not infrequently prescribe potentially harmful medication. Medication that all too often will simply mask the symptoms rather than deal with the cause of the underlying problem.
My pet nutritionist consultation then is designed to provide support and advice for minor dog health problems. Problems that might include:
- Allaying your concerns when you want to change your dog’s diet but your vet insists on prescribing a so-called prescription diet
- When your dog has become fussy over his or her food
- If you are concerned because your dog is losing weight
- Your best friend is licking or chewing his or her paws
- There are early signs that your dog might be suffering from arthritis
- You’re concerned that your dog’s diet might not be balanced
If however your dog is suffering from Allergies, Arthritis & Joint Problems, Bladder Stones, Cancer, Chronic Kidney Disease, Cushing’s Disease, Diabetes, Digestive Problems, Ear Infections, Epilepsy, Liver Disease, Pancreatitis or UTIs, perhaps one of my downloadable guides would be more appropriate.
Miss D Greig –
Gerald knows dogs and the best way to support them nutritionally.
Very concise, straight to the point, helpful advice and information, reassuring to know that you are making the best choice for your pooch. Also, a lot cheaper than a vet visit, which made my doggo worse.
Mrs A Sargeant –

My consultation with Gerald was completely transformational for my one year old rough collie Merlin. He had suffered for months with inflammatory bowel disease, which the vet said was like Crohn’s Disease rather than the milder IBS. Even his very healthy dog food made him vomit and caused diarrhoea, and he lost 4kg. The vet recommended a major manufacturer’s product for sensitive stomachs. This didn’t improve things and Merlin even passed the lining of his large intestine which looked like a placenta! He had to be anaesthetised to have an ultrasound scan. He was then put on the same manufacturer’s hydrolyzed product, which did no good at all. I was in despair, regularly visiting the vet and having to cancel most activities. The next step was steroids. At this point I contacted a company making herbal dog food supplements who suggested I consult a canine nutritionist. I had no idea this existed! I found Gerald online and liked his website and approach. A few weeks later Merlin is completely better! Gerald was always ready with attentive emails, patiently answering all questions and making numerous excellent suggestions. He started Merlin off with an elimination diet, teaching me what to cook for him and how to do it. This was much easier and less time-consuming than I imagined and my dog really loves his homemade food now in a way he never did with kibble. It made all the difference having someone to help me with what felt like an intractable problem. Gerald clearly loves his work – and dogs! – and you can completely tell he is totally committed to it. I can’t recommend him highly enough! I only wish vets would let people know that the option of a canine nutritionist exists and will certainly be politely mentioning it to mine!
