Having your dog routinely treated for fleas, ticks and worms carries enormous health risks. These include:

Tremors
Seizures
Ataxia (disorders that affect coordination)
Vomiting
Diarrhoea

In addition to the enormous risks involved in routinely and totally unnecessarily having your beloved pet treated for fleas, ticks and worms, you shoud be aware of the staggering harm being done to the planet. A study carried out by the University of Sussex together with Imperial College London overwhelmingly proved that our rivers and waterways are now awash with highly toxic chemicals as the result of the indiscriminate and totally unnecessary use of flea and tick treatments.

Fipronil and imidacloprid, two highly toxic pesticides no longer approved for use in outdoor agriculture, are still in indiscriminate use in flea tick and worming treatments. Professor Dave Goulson from the University of Sussex, who supervised the research, explains:

“These two chemicals are extremely potent neurotoxic insecticides and it is deeply concerning that they are routinely found on the hands of dog owners through ongoing contact with their pet. Pet owners will also be upset to learn that they are accidentally polluting our rivers by using these products.”

The professor said this after revealing that for at least 28 days after using one of these treatments, the hands of pet parents will still be contaminated with these toxic pesticides, and that waste water from sewage treatment plants is a major source of fipronil and imidacloprid pollution in rivers. Even to the point of exceeding safe limits for wildlife.
