The word none of us wants to hear
There’s something about the word cancer that strikes fear into the hearts of us all. It’s simply inflammation like so many diseases, but that doesn’t help when we’re given the news that someone we love has cancer.
Speaking as the partner of a human cancer survivor, I can tell you that for me personally, it wasn’t so much hearing the word itself that chilled me to the core. It was the sombre manner with which it was uttered. I knew what was coming long before the word came out. Just like in the movies, it seemed to be preceded by a sharp intake of breath and the longest, and I mean the longest, possible pause!
In the case of our beloved pets, it doesn’t matter that one in four dogs is likely to develop cancer at some point in their lives. Perhaps it’s because canine cancer more or less parallels human cancer and we know what the end result can be. But the good news is that with early detection, much can still be done for your best friend. So let’s focus on the positive. Let’s focus on what we can do to make the best of a bad situation. Let’s start with the best cancer dog food!
Nutrition
You won’t be surprised to read that I consider nutrition to be the key to fighting canine cancer. After all, I’m a canine nutritionist, what else would I say?
But it’s absolutely true. The stronger you can make your dog’s immune system, the better the potential outcome. 80% of your dog’s immune system is in its gut. So it stands to reason that improving its diet gives it the best chance of surviving the dreaded disease.
If you follow this downloadable guide, all your dog will notice is a huge improvement in its diet. This will be all the more noticeable if he or she has hitherto been fed dry commercial dog food.
Dietary improvement alone is going to give your best friend a huge psychological boost and a considerably more positive outlook on life. This can greatly improve your dog’s mental and physical wellbeing and improve his or her ability to both fight the disease and to tolerate any medication or medical procedures that may prove necessary.

Cancer feeding guide
If you currently feed your dog commercial dog food, I earnestly suggest you consider changing to either a raw diet, a homemade diet or a combination of the two. Only a fresh food diet is likely to support and strengthen your dog’s immune system and will improve its ability to fight this disease.
While there is no one ideal cancer treatment that suits every dog, I believe my dog cancer food guide can certainly benefit the vast majority of dogs. It comes complete with tasty recipes and other tips for those off days when your pup might not feel like eating.
