The thing about feeding your dog is that there’s no one-size-fits all solution. Every dog has its own unique metabolism. What works for one dog, may not work for another. What they do all have in common though is a need for the very best nutrition if they are going to remain healthy. And that’s where your local pet nutritionist comes in. A pet nutritionist in this case who is an expert in dog nutrition.

The difference between a pet nutritionist and a vet

There are a number of key differences between vets and pet nutritionists. To begin with, as their name implies, pet nutritionists are qualified in pet nutrition. Vets are not.

A second and vitally important difference is that vets focus on symptoms whereas pet nutritionists focus on the overall health of your best friend. Vets look at the symptoms presented by your dog and treat those. They don’t look at the underlying issue that might be causing those symptoms. If they treat the symptoms and those symptoms go away, they’ve done their job.

But the matter is not that simple. Making a symptom go away with medication is not curing the problem that caused that symptom. It’s simply hiding the symptom. Sweeping it under the carpet. Hiding it under the rug so you can’t see it anymore. Chances are it’s still there of course. But that’s the thing that will keep you revisiting your vet. Again and again.

You don’t need that. Your dog doesn’t need that. Your dog needs a permanent fix for the underlying problem. Not simply a quick fix for the symptom!

Solutions for life

A pet nutritionist does not look at your pet’s problem in isolation. A pet nutritionist looks at your whole dog. What can be done now that will cure your dog’s particularly malady, and cure it for life, not simply hide the symptoms under the carpet.

The vast majority of canine health problems are the result of a poor diet. And that’s where your pet nutritionist will focus his or her attention. On improving your dog’s diet.

So many people are under the illusion that feeding their dog real food will be prohibitively expensive. That it will be more expensive than commercial pet food. But it doesn’t have to be that way. It certainly won’t cost you any more than feeding your dog with so-called prescription dog food. And it will be immeasurably healthier. Factor in lower vet bills because you will have a healthier dog less prone to illness, and you’ll be quids in as we used to say!
