Invest in the future of your dog

Anyone who knows me well will have heard me talk at length about investing in the future of their dog. How dog nutrition and health are inextricably related.

For anyone new to this theory, it has nothing to do with regularly siphoning savings into a hedge fund or slipping spare change under the mattress for a rainy day. It’s about feeding your dog food that will boost its immune system, keep its body and brain in tip top working order, and better enabling it to be able to withstand the rigours of canine life.

But here’s the problem. Here’s the issue so few people seem able or willing to take on board. In order for your investment in your dog to pay off, in order for he or she to enjoy the best possible health, you need to invest wisely. And that, sad to relate, is not as simple as filling your dog’s bowl with dry dog food twice a day and putting your best friend at the mercy of Commercial Dog Food Plc. It entails turning back the clock to before the time of commercial dog food and feeding your dog properly with fresh dog food!

Cells matter

Satisfying your dog’s hunger on a daily basis is one thing. Any old commercial dog food will do that. But feeding your dog to reduce cellular aging, protecting its cells against age-related illness, is another matter entirely.

And just as it has been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that diet plays a major role in maintaining good human health, the same principle applies to the health of man’s best friend. If junk food was good for us and our constant canine companions, we’d all be eating it. So why are you eating heathily and feeding your best friend in the world, junk food?

The importance of nutrition

If you want your dog to live a long, healthy and active life, you need to provide a high quality, nutritionally rich diet. And that, sad to relate, does not come from a bag of nutritionally-bereft, highly-processed dry dog food made from by-products and chemicals. It comes from a varied, fresh wholefood diet that’s minimally processed and as natural as possible.

It doesn’t matter whether you’re a human being or a dog. If you want to enjoy good health, you need to eat healthily. It’s a fact that the vast majority of illnesses, both human and canine, can be attributed to poor diet. As far as most dogs are concerned, they are not born unhealthy. They become unhealthy because of an unhealthy diet.

Ignore what your vet tells you. Disregard what the pet food industry would have you believe. Commercial dog food is junk food. It is rubbish. And if anyone in the industry wishes to challenge that statement, come up with a nutritionally justified reason for the presence of sawdust in commercial dog food!

Invest wisely

I implore any dog parent to consider the health implications of their dog’s diet. Think about dog nutrition and health. Invest wisely. Feed a fresh, varied, wholefood diet or sentence your dog to a lifetime of ill health and suffering.

The decision is yours, but I know what your dog would choose if given the choice. Fresh dog food every time!
