Gerald knows dogs and the best way to support them nutritionally. Very concise, straight to the point, helpful advice and information, reassuring to know that you are making the best choice for your pooch. Also, a lot cheaper than a vet visit, which made my doggo worse.

I had been struggling for years to sort out the diet for my two spaniels. It was so nice to talk to someone who understood the problems and genuinely wanted to help. Very easy to talk to and extremely knowledgeable. The support has been invaluable.

I contacted Gerald at Canine Nutritionist for some help with tweaking the diet of my elderly English Springer Spaniel who had some early kidney changes on a routine blood test. The service I received was excellent right from the initial booking, pre consultation form, nutrition consultation right through to a follow up email. Gerald clearly has a wealth of knowledge and I would not hesitate to use him again and recommend him to others. I'm glad to say that, following Gerald's recommendations my Spaniel remains well. 😊

Gerald was really kind and informative. He made the process of learning to feed my new puppy cooked feeds as easy as he could. He is always on hand and answers emails quickly with lots of information. I would thoroughly recommend him and have passed on his details to our trainer and our vet.

Good guidelines and recipes which are reassuring when starting out cooking for dogs. Particularly liked the Dog Chef Seasoning supplement to add flavour and extra vitamins plus the Dog Chef Calcium supplement ensuring added support for healthy bones. Fast service.

Gerald was really knowledgeable on canine nutrition; he was also very honest in not over-selling his services beyond what required as he felt I had done a lot of research about the issue with my dog. He also went above and beyond giving me key recommendations and bibliography. Thank you very much Gerald!

Gerald has transformed my little dog's life! By changing her diet to natural, human food and tweaking the number of meals and timings, she is no longer sick twice a week. For the first time in her life she is eager to eat and is much more playful and lively. I cannot thank Gerald enough for his support. I am now changing the diet of my other (healthy) dog, as this is obviously the way to go. If your dog has a problem, or even if it doesn't, don't hesitate. Contact Gerald!

Changing from commercial pet food to homemade food has proved enormously beneficial for my Great Dane. To seek the advice of a specialist in dog nutrition is well worth it….as with humans food makes an enormous difference to our pets health. Gerald was both knowledgeable and kind.

Using the guide for kidney disease I made tasty food my little Border. He enjoyed his new food and really enjoyed every meal. Knowing I was putting time and effort into his diet gave me huge pleasure and satisfaction - thank you so much for your advice and time.

Love this guide - it’s really taken the stress out of homemade dog food. I’d got myself slightly worked up about the whole thing so I messaged Gerald who gave me some amazing advice. I love that the recipes are simple, I cooked my first recipe tonight and I honestly don’t know why I made such a fuss about it - it was so easy! If you’re feeling a bit stressed and not sure where to start then this is the guide for you.

My consultation with Gerald was completely transformational for my one year old rough collie Merlin. He had suffered for months with inflammatory bowel disease, which the vet said was like Crohn's Disease rather than the milder IBS. Even his very healthy dog food made him vomit and caused diarrhoea, and he lost 4kg. The vet recommended a major manufacturer's product for sensitive stomachs. This didn't improve things and Merlin even passed the lining of his large intestine which looked like a placenta! He had to be anaesthetised to have an ultrasound scan. He was then put on the same manufacturer's hydrolyzed product, which did no good at all. I was in despair, regularly visiting the vet and having to cancel most activities. The next step was steroids. At this point I contacted a company making herbal dog food supplements who suggested I consult a canine nutritionist. I had no idea this existed! I found Gerald online and liked his website and approach. A few weeks later Merlin is completely better! Gerald was always ready with attentive emails, patiently answering all questions and making numerous excellent suggestions. He started Merlin off with an elimination diet, teaching me what to cook for him and how to do it. This was much easier and less time-consuming than I imagined and my dog really loves his homemade food now in a way he never did with kibble. It made all the difference having someone to help me with what felt like an intractable problem. Gerald clearly loves his work - and dogs! - and you can completely tell he is totally committed to it. I can't recommend him highly enough! I only wish vets would let people know that the option of a canine nutritionist exists and will certainly be politely mentioning it to mine!

I just wanted to show you how much my collie’s skin has improved since I changed his diet. My dog has kidney failure, arthritis and skin issues and with Gerald’s dietary plan and supplements there has been a huge improvement in just 2 weeks. I can’t wait to see what another 2 weeks looks like! Thank you so much for your help. He eats better and seems better in himself. I’ve even taken him off his medication as I know this will cause an inflammatory response within his body. Very happy and there is no looking back now with all our dogs. Here’s to a happy and healthy future for them all.null

I purchased the weight loss plan in order to try help my dog lose some much needed weight, after doing my research when my vet let me down. The plan itself I found to be informative and well put together and was written in such a way it makes sense regardless the diet you feed your dog. Yes some of it is common sense but it truly makes you take a hard look at what you are feeding. I then received an email from Gerald himself asking a few questions about my dog which I answered and explained the situation. Gerald then sent me several emails offering further advice and couldn’t have been more helpful! I now feel positive that my dog will lose the weight and this is thanks to The Canine Nutritionist’s help and advice. I will absolutely recommend Gerald and this site to any and all. I have no doubt whatsoever whether you want to help your dog lose weight or look at starting a homemade diet or even supplement your dogs current diet this is the site that will help you.

For short coats, an overweight dog will show no signs of any definition around the ribs. For dogs with longer coats, you will need to feel their ribs to get a sense of their weight. If you struggle to feel their ribs, they are likely overweight. It is important you check your dog’s shape on a regular basis to ensure they don’t stray from their ideal weight and risk developing health problems. We would advise giving your dog a visual check once a fortnight and book two or three general check-ups with your vet throughout the year, even if your dog is otherwise healthy.

I have been giving this to my 14 year old greyhound and not only has it transformed her life by improving her mobility (she runs now instead of hobbling) her problem dry skin has gone and her coat is so glossy.

My dog looked so grotty when we adopted him it was thought he might have a thyroid problem. His coat was dull and lifeless and he had no energy whatsoever, but since he has been having this broth with his home-cooked food he looks fantastic and you can tell he feels fantastic too.

Consult with The Canine Nutritionist

You wouldn't visit a dentist to have your eyes tested, and you wouldn't go to a chiropodist to have your hair done. So why would you visit a vet in order to discuss your dog's diet? Vets are not trained in canine nutrition. A dog nutritionist is!
